Internal IT Status Page — Real-Time System Status for Your Team
During an IT incident, employees need two things from IT: an immediate notification that a problem exists, and a place to check the current status without having to call or email. Notifiier is being built to provide both — from a single install.
Why you need an internal status page
External status pages (Atlassian Statuspage, Better Stack) are designed for notifying customers about service outages. They are public-facing, SaaS-hosted, and not designed for internal IT communication with employees.
An internal status page serves a different job:
- Employees can check whether a problem is known and being worked on — without calling the helpdesk
- IT controls who can see it (internal network or VPN only)
- It updates in real time as the incident evolves
- Incident history is preserved for audit and post-mortem purposes
Status page and desktop alerts in one tool
Most organisations that have an internal status page maintain it as a separate tool from their alerting system. This creates friction:
- IT must update two systems during an incident
- Employees receive a desktop alert but then cannot find the status page URL
- The status page gets out of sync with the alert messaging
- When the incident is resolved, IT must close it in two places
Notifiier is being designed so that when an alert fires, the status page updates automatically. When the incident is resolved, a single action closes the alert and marks the incident as resolved on the status page. One tool, one action, consistent communication.
What the internal status page covers
- Current service health per system (VPN, email, ERP, internet, etc.)
- Active incidents with status: investigating, identified, monitoring, resolved
- Incident history for audit and post-incident review
- Visible only on the internal network or VPN — not publicly accessible
How Atlassian Statuspage and Notifiier differ
Atlassian Statuspage is a strong product for public-facing incident communication — notifying external customers and stakeholders. It does not have a desktop alert layer, it requires a separate Atlassian subscription, and it is cloud-hosted under Atlassian's (US-based) infrastructure.
Notifiier's status page is designed for internal use: employees behind your VPN or on your LAN, not external customers. And because it's built into the same tool that sends the desktop alerts, it updates automatically when alerts fire.
