Notifiier vs Atlassian Statuspage

Atlassian Statuspage is the market-leading status page product. It is excellent at what it is designed for: notifying external customers and stakeholders about service outages via a public-facing status page, email subscriptions, and third-party integrations.

It is not designed for internal employee communication during IT incidents — and it has no desktop alert capability at all.

Notifiier is being built for the internal IT communication job: alerting employees on their desktops the moment an incident fires, and showing them live status updates without requiring them to check an external website.

Different jobs, different tools

Atlassian Statuspage: external customer notification

  • Public-facing status page for external customers and partners
  • Email and webhook subscriptions for customers who want to follow your status
  • Incident history for external transparency
  • Integrations with PagerDuty, OpsGenie, monitoring tools
  • No desktop pop-up alerts — employees are not the target audience
  • Cloud-hosted by Atlassian — data under US legal jurisdiction

Notifiier: internal employee notification

  • Desktop pop-up alerts pushed to every employee machine when monitoring fires
  • Internal status page visible only on your network or VPN
  • Targeting by machine, user, AD group, or department
  • Delivery logs and acknowledgement records per machine
  • EU-hosted: keep all data inside the EU
  • No Atlassian account required — completely independent

Why some IT teams use both — and why that is a problem

A number of IT teams maintain Atlassian Statuspage for external communication and a separate desktop alerting tool for internal employees. This means:

  • Two tools to update during an incident, when time is most critical
  • Status page and desktop alerts can go out of sync
  • Two separate billing relationships
  • Internal and external messaging can diverge

Notifiier's design combines the internal pieces: desktop alert and internal status page in a single tool. When an incident fires, both channels update from the same action. There is no second tool to maintain for internal communication.

Pricing

Atlassian Statuspage ranges from a Hobby tier (free, single page) to Enterprise (custom pricing, $1,499/month for the Starter Enterprise tier based on publicly available information). For internal IT use, most organisations need at least the Team tier to get subscriber limits and integrations.

Notifiier is offered as a managed EU-hosted service. Commercial hosted pricing will be published on this website.

Who should evaluate Notifiier instead of Atlassian Statuspage?

  • IT teams who need to reach employees on their desktops during incidents (Statuspage cannot do this)
  • Teams who need EU-sovereign incident communication tools for GDPR or security reasons
  • Teams who need both internal employee alerts and a status page from a single tool
  • Teams who want an internal-only (not public) status page for employees behind a VPN
